Malaria remains one of the most important diseases in Uganda and the biggest cause of morbidity and mortality in the country. It is responsible for significant economic losses.[1]

Uganda has a malaria control programme, which focuses on policy and implementation framework development and coordination of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership.

There has been a major intervention addressing prevention and treatment of malaria in line with Millennium Development Goal 6.[2]
